Hey If im posting this in the wrong forum on the board first I want to apologize.

Anyway, im a 18 year old guy, im 5'10 pushing 5'11... and i only weigh 121 pounds :surprised:

It obviously sucks really bad, But Im determined to get to at least 130 pounds by the summer 9if possible). My problem is i went to this website:
http://nutrition.about.com/library/bl_nutrition_guide_men.htm
filled it out and it told me if I ate 2900 Calories a day i'd gain a pound in a week. Well I ate 3100 calories a day for a week and I didn't gain one pound at all. Im flustered and frankly a little pissed off. Im new to this weight gaining/training stuff so critisicm or advice would be great and appreciated.

thanks!

Whats your routine like? What were you eating to get those calories. it may take your bpdy a while to catch up with a new dietary plan, a week isn't long enough to really see a difference.

And Be patient here, not as many people are online on the weekends....also - fill out your profile and more people are apt to answer your posts.

Well to be honest with you I don't even have a routine, I haven't started hitting the gym yet. But I eat alot of the goof stuff. 2 tuna sandwhichs, bacon and eggs, 5 cups of milk a day, bannanas, apples, chicken breast, salmon.

Check the diet forum.. some fantastic diet ideas there... if it ain't on the list, don't eat it.

Log your daily food intake for a while to see what you really consume.

Thanks for the good advice guys.

I hate to be a pain in the ass but I don't really know what you mean by log in your daily food intake, if you mean keep track of how much calories and stuff im getting a day than yeah ive been doing that for a while now. But I will go check out the diet forum.

Ya, that's what I mean. Some say the number on here are high, so you can try Fitday.com. I believe the one here and fitday let you add custom foods.

I was very skinny when I started working out too. I was 14, 5'8.5" and 115 pounds. At first, I didn't really start gaining any weight but I learned from people on this site the importance of nutrition and began to gain weight at first slowly but then after a few months I began gaining weight rather quickly. Even though I had to take a few months off from the gym here and there (my gym closed down one time and I was waiting for my father to sign me up at another gym and another time my membership expired and I had to wait a while then also), I have put on 100 pounds and only gained maybe 7% bodyfat( 215 pounds, about 16 or 17 percent bodyfat, and 5'8.5") and my strength has increased astrnomically. Like everyone else said find your regular daily intake and then you should add 500 calories to that. That will give you 3500 extra calories per week which equals 1 pound. calories should be split like this 50%carbs 30% protein 20% fat (healthy). Do this and I promise you will gain weight.
