Hi there, I've started the 3 day split routine, but I have never done sooo many reps before. Can you give me a bit more guidance with this programme? I'm guessing the first set is for a warm up with light weight, with the weight increasing as the reps decrease, but what is the advantage to this program vs. doing 3 sets of 12 reps as I usually see with other routines ?

Thanks so much.

Hey Piper, I was kinda wondering the same thing.  I just did the first workout plan given today with all the reps and it definitely kicked my butt! More so than my usual 3x12's so I guess there is a good diffference. Did you notice the area you were working getting exhausted?  I think it fatigues your muscles better so you work that muscle tissue harder.

Sorry, but I haven't looked at this specific routine in ages.. what is the rep scheme that's been set out for you?

Did you choose weight loss or weight gain?

I chose weight loss. And I found I needed to use much lighter weights or else I couldn't finish the four sets (20 reps, 16, 14, 12), so because of the lighter poundage I didn't get the 'burn' till the final set.

The theory is for weight loss, higher reps, lower weight... for weight gain, higher weight and lower reps.  And yep, you can increase the weight as you move through your sets.

Does that help?
