How important is recovery time for your muscles? I really want to gain muscle on my chest and arms, so for the past 4 months I have worked my chest and arms about 4 days a week. Do I need more recovery time or what?

very important, OMG YES! REST! You shouldnt work the same muscle groups more than 2 days a week unless specific sport training or event training...you really need to reassess your goals and workout program

You really need to do some research also. Proper rest and nutrition is what makes your muscles grow. Working them at the gym is only a portion of what it really takes to grow muscle.

You realise that your chest and arms only comprise about 20% of your body, right?

Contrary to a newbies belief, and even some more seasoned vets, you do not grow in the gym. Proper diet and rest determine your gains.
