I love peanut butter but I"m aware of the high fat content. So I bought a container of oeter pans reduced fat peanut butter. Is there anything good/bad about this? Can I still eat this and enjoy it?

peanut butter oil is EFA (Essential Fatty Acid) really good for your health and to burn fat.
yes... need fat to cut fat... eat as much peanut butter as you want as long as you dont exceed your caloric intake. ALTHOU, the high fat content is not the problem. what you have to be aware of is if your peanut butter is natural or not. if natural: nutition facts only contains peanuts and salt. if not: your peanut butter have osme added sugars, flavours, and most of all hydrogranted oil (THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT TO AVOID AT ALL COST IN ORDER NOT TO EGET FATTY). so what you bought is natural or what? kakaroto |

I actually find natural peanut butter has more suger in it than reduced fat peter pan .......and reduced fat has a lil more fiber in it. So from my stand point reduced fat is better, but i could be wrong-------------- if you want sympathy......from me...in a dictionary look between symphony and syphillis.......there you\'ll find it! |

I am not sure if it is all natural peanut butter, but I know of course not to eat the whole jar although I'd love to! Who wouldn't? But yeah usually I just snack on it. I'm turning into a major health freak and I just wanted to know the facts about the food I'm eating. I'm trying to gain muscle and I realize that I need to eat a lot of calories. Eating peanut butter will surely get me to that high calorie intake without feeling like a pig eating so much low calorie food. Anybody have any ideas of how much calories I need to eat to gain muscle? Do you need to eat more calories then you burn to gain muscle? I'm 5' 8'' 150 pounds and 15 years of age. I'm a male. I'd apreciate all any advice.

The peanut butter I have been buying lately is called Adams. I'm not completely sure (I'll check when I get home), but I'm sure 99% that all that's in this is the oil, salt and peanuts. No sugar. There should be no oils added ted to natural peanut butter.
Ingredients should read: Peanuts only. -------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

The ingredients on mine say:
100% Natural (define natural, though) Just roasted peanuts, no added sugar, no preservatives, no added shortening and non-hydrogenated oil... -------------- t I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies, for the hardest victory is over self. - Aristotle You have the power to change a life right in your own hands. - Paul Brandt |

The ingredients should say..."peanuts", and maybe salt. That is all. For instance Smuckers is a good brand.
Have you ever investigated Almond butter?? It is awesome, and the same benefits. A bit pricey, but if you have the extra cash... -------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

Damn... I'm guessing by the way they have the label written, the non-hydrogenated oil has been added. But, don't they add oil to blend the nuts?-------------- t I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies, for the hardest victory is over self. - Aristotle You have the power to change a life right in your own hands. - Paul Brandt |

The peanut butter that I use has lots of other ingredients including parially hydronated oils. But heck man I love the stuff, and it can't be that bad to your health. I mean other people eat worse things then reduced fat peanut butter. What's wrong with it? It's better then eating marcaroni and cheese with loads of fat that aren't healthy to you am I right?

Peanuts have thier own oil. And with the natural product you actually have to stir it up (remember that song) because of the seperation.-------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

The kind I've been buying has to be stirred too. But once it's in the fridge, it seems okay... -------------- t I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies, for the hardest victory is over self. - Aristotle You have the power to change a life right in your own hands. - Paul Brandt |

some peanut butters have hydrogenated oil in very little amount just to avoid separation.

yes i know hydrogemtated oil is very very very very bad for you. but that is the only brand (fifty50) besides "peanut"(which is not a natural peanut butter) here in my country.
so i am really worried about this. i know about hydrogentated oil and all the consequence that comes with it, but, should i then not take that that peanut butter with "hydrogenated vegetal oils" to avoid separation. if so then i cant eat peanut butter! OMG! |

Almond butter will yeild the same health benefits as natural peanut butter. Arrowhead Mills for one makes a good one, as does Marantha. Been in the business for years. You normally have to find these at a health food store.-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

i hate companys that play with food- i don't understand what sugar, salt or peanuts are all about when you talk about them 'together'.. a peanut is a peanut with essential fat, protein and fibre, it is the same if you crush it into paste. Why do manafacturers stick salt, sugar and sh## into these foods we buy?
Anyway that's the ranting done! So sesame paste is nice too and in a good health store you will find all the nut butters and they are all good! Just don't eat enough that you feel sick as that's too much! Stick to a teaspoon per serving maximum being 3.. well that's me anyway. |

yeah I hate it also...Have you ever been to a mexican resturaunt where they have salads with guacamole and all this other very fattening stuff in it? What's up with that? Some people still try to eat healthy in this world!

I have type 2 Diabetes and control it with diet and exercise. I have already lost 70 lbs and have trouble losing the last 30. I am new to this site, but is there a nutrition plan that is appropriate for Diabetics? Just asking.-------------- Kit4kat |
