Does anyone know of a replacement exercise for Parallel Bar Dips? I don't have access to that piece of equipment and was hoping there was a replacement I could do with a barbell or dumbell.

Thanks!

Check out FT's Fitness Resources, then choose the Triceps muscle group. Listed in there are all of FT's exercises.

you can do them on the side of a bench with your feet on another bench

wouldn't that work your tricepts more though? i thought regular dips worked your chest (primarily) while dips behind the back hit the tri's more... or do they both work the chest and tricepts the same???

More importantly - I'm dying to know what's going on in Tim's second picture.

Do you mean more like a push-up? Using two benches instead of doing them on the floor?

no, this is how you do that (dips behind the back):

Those are for the tricep, the one I need to replace if for the chest... what I did do last night was sort of a reverse dip... more like a push-up though.... not sure if that is appropriate or not, but it was fairly tough and seemed more for the shoulders...perhaps my form was wrong...

well, if all else fails, you can just do some push ups with your arm far apart (more than shoulder width apart)... that way it'll hit your pecs real good... specially if you add some resistence to it...

Ok, I actually had questions along these lines...

1. Dips behind back are getting easy for me (I'm in my 3rd beginners week). Should I start doing some tricep presses or is it possible that when I go to my intermediate program it will get more specialized?

2. Chins between chairs is also getting easy. Any suggestions?

BTW, I do not have access to weight machines and am using free weights at home. On a side note, I am feeling GREAT! I love my work outs and am starting to feel my body changing. YAY!

Try putting some weights on your legs when doing the dips.
