I am only able to get about 8 hours of sleep per night, is this an ample amount of time for recovery ??? What is the minimum ??

8 hours is good depending on how old you are. The younger you are, the more rest you need. As you get older, you need less becuase your metabolism slows way down. Me, I am comfortable with 6, but I am 38 years old, whereas my kids need 8-12 hours.

I was so exhausted after last weeks work and heat I could have used 10 hours/night. I must admit I've been staying up too late. I smartened up and started to go earlier. Sure does feel better. I usually get up at 5'ish a.m. but overslept 'til 6:25 a.m. today. I didn't want to work out but I did anyway and I'm glad I did. Get your rest by all means!!
