Okay I understand the principle behind resting the body. I started the beginners program & am only up to 5# for the last set of reps. Yesterday was my day of rest & when I arose this morning I felt sooooo worn out. Did my days worth of weights & WOW I'm raring to go. Now to my question, with using such light weights is it necessary to have days of rest or can I still do some light lifting & abs?
Thanks Nancy

If you feel that your weights are that light that's a good sign you need to bump it up a notch. Stress those muscles! I'm not talking about about piling it on, but put enough on there to create a stress. And yes, you still need a rest day, if for nothing else, to avoid burnout.

Nancy, when I started active exercise after rotator cuff surgery, my PT told me to up the reps and stay light on the weights. asimmer on this board told me to listen to my body and not necessarily let the medical people hold me back. This was excellent advice for me. You have to be sure you are healed enough to push yourself though.
Are you under a PT's or DR's care? If so do as they say.
What is your injury exactly?

Numerous micro tears in 2 tendons & bursa. Still on anti inflametory(sp) Done with PT & Doc says wait & see. No real pain anymore just want to work up slowly. Next week will add more weight.
