ABSOLUTELY! Rest days are recuperation days. This is when your body heals from the damage caused by excercise. You won't have to worry about a higher-than-normal intake of carbs on your rest days, but a good amount of protein should be consumed everyday. And be sure to ingest plenty of protein every night before bed!

Thanks j. Guess I'll have to eat more at night. I try to but haven't enough. That might be why I can't seem to gain weight. I'll let you know how I progress. Any suggestions on protein sources besides the supplement??

I eat a 12.5oz can of chicken everyday (I split it up into 2 meals to balance my protein intake) with 2 potatoes or pasta. Canned chicken does have added sodium, so I simply rinse it off a couple times and pour on the BBQ!
Maybe you should start eating more carbs with your protein. I also eat carbs before bed. Not many people will say that's very smart of me, but I get up at 4am and I'm working out by 4:45am. The carbs before bed replenish my glycogen stores and give me a great boost of energy in the morning. I ingest about 30-40 grams of protein with the carbs before bed. If you grow at night, your body needs the protein, right? Give it time..... Sounds like you're determined enough, so you're on the right track.
