After months of reading other people's successes I've finally got one of my own. Due to drastically cutting my oversized portions and doing some spotty exercise I managed to lose 9 pounds. My new challenge is to exercise and weight train the way I should and to be eating enough of the right kinds of foods to help that along. I thought a reward for my success so far is in order, but what should I do?
How do the women on this site reward themselves to stay motivated? I refuse to do it with food and I thought I should stay away from clothing since I want this to be about my health and not just about wearing smaller sizes. Perfume maybe or a pedicure, maybe a pair of shoes?
Please share your favorite ways to give yourself a little something extra when you are doing well.

Well as cliche as this sounds if my husband or I want to reward ourselves for acomplishing a goal we go shopping! manicures pedicures clothes movies (dinner at a fine restaurant that we know is healthy) or just shopping for little things, I'll get him something I know he wants and vice versa!!!

I give myself rewards each week for getting in my exersize. At the end of each week that I have exersize 3 times or more, I get to go tanning. After a month of doing well, I go buy a new bottle of nail polish, get a pedicure, buy a movie I have wanted...something small, but that I really want. It helps keep me focused on a weekly basis as well as the long term!

i'm not really a weightloss celebrator, i'm more of a "change in appearance" celebrator. if i can tell i'm starting to cut up a little more, i get nude photographs taken. just kidding.
what i really do is i give myself a break on the calorie counting. by this i don't mean that i quit eating healthy food or eat a ton of things i wouldn't normally eat, but i'm not as obsessive about accounting for every single thing i put in my mouth. it takes the stress off and allows me to keep making progress because i don't burn out.
this week, for instance, i have noticed that my shoulders are really starting to lean out, so i've been a lot more relaxed about when and what i eat. it makes life more enjoyable and it still keeps the focus on being healthy. this, of course, does not mean that i don't occasionall buy myself something to reward my progress, but when i do it's usually something that shows off the changes in my body.

I do the reward thing in a way...after I reached my first weight loss/fitness goals I got the breast reduction that I so desperately needed. When I reach the next one, it's back to the plastic surgeon to remove the extra skin left on my tummy after having the boys.
