Should I be concerned if my knees snap, crackle and pop durning squats? I haven't changed anything in the last couple of weeks, yet before they were fine..and quiet..and now they're crackling the whole time.

My knees and ankles crack all of the time. I have no pain at all. I would like to know if this is normal also.

I hope it is a age thing, it happend to me last night when I got up from the couch, sometimes at the gym too, I am not going to worry about it, nothing seems to be broke, so I am not going to fix it. Although it made me thnk to start on some extra calcium and fish oils to my diet.

I DO SQUATS, AND THE SWISS BALL THING AGAINST THE WALL WITH DUMBELLS... BUT I DON'T CLICK OR CREAK UNTIL I'M ON THE SOFA, TRYING TO GET UP AS IF I WAS NINETY NINE YEARS OLD?
It's age, wear and tear. Clicks and creaks included, as long as you can squat with no pain and more than your neighbour, worry not..

My knees also have been cracking ever since I can remember (before elementary school). I don't think it's a problem unless there is pain involved.

Everything cracks on me, and I am only 22!! I think it's just a fluke thing that happens to everyone at one point or another :)

Well, at first it was just noise, then it started to hurt. A sharp stabbing pain. Not just during squats, but anytime I sat down or squated down. It also started to just collapse on me.
I 've given it some time off, and it seems to be better. Haven't had any problem in a couple of weeks. I"ve backed off on the weight - not like I used a lot - starting back slowly and no problems so far.
In my case it may have been a side effect of some medication i've been on. I've only got a few more days on it, so we'll see if that helps. I hope that's all it is anyway...
Thanks for the input.
