This sparked my interest as far as something that would be changing things up from my Freetrainers programs (completed 12wk & currently on wk 7 of an 8wk). My questions are as follows:
1. First and foremost; I love me some squats. But 3 squat workouts/week? Excessive? I understand I need to listen to what my legs are telling me, and not just follow a program verbatim (necessarily) but as you can see it's also stated multiple times to follow this program like it's handed down straight from the 24" pythons of God. I don't want to mess with God's pythons....
2. Does anybody have any previous experience or knowledge with or of this guy? I did a check online on him and all I saw were articles that could have been promoting him in the same manner as the latest bb gimmick. Then again he may be a genius...
I did enjoy my 12wk program on this site and may go back to that, but I wanted to add something new... keep variety/spice in my workout.
Thanks in advance

I agree with many of the things he says...
The volume is fairly low....intensity is moderate....frequency is mod/high.......the program relies on big freeweight exercises....so it's fairly sound...over a long period of time it may lead to overtraining however if done for 4-8 weeks with time off in between cycles it may be sustainable for a few months....(Please keep in mind his workouts are aimed at NEWBIES....skinny guys getting into lifting....it may not work for seasoned lifters
....doing squats 3 times a week is very challenging at those low reps...and may lead to overtraining for many people....this is why listening to YOUR body is so vital to be successful with any program....if u need day off then take it...if ur legs are still really sore skip the squats...)
There's nothing genius about the workout per se....the guy suggests doing basic exercises for fairly low reps....things that I usually suggest ...however his workout is going to be difficult to sustain and 30-40lb gains that the workout promises to produce is a bit farfetched...if u gain lean 10lb on that program then u have done a great job...
If u have been plateauing for a while then you can give it a try as well....
my disagreement with him is with a few small things...back flat on the bench is WRONG imo especially if you are concerned with strength... you instead should have your butt and shoulders pinned into the bench and a BIG ARCH in your lower back....this allows for a huge amount of additional strength and it shortens the ROM for the exercise....
Chin Ups although work more biceps than pull ups...they are not primary movers in the exercise...LOL...not sure where he got that biceps were more involved in the exercise than lats...I also would put that exercise higher up in the order....as much as I like BOR or Pendlay variation...chin ups and pull ups come before it IMO...
I agree w/ your disagreements - mostly regarding the 30-40lb gains. 10-15 was really my goal. And while I don't classify myself as noob-material, I'm new enough to lifting that I think it may benefit me as something different (and I have been plateauing on my basic/compound lifts for a few weeks)
