I have been going strong in the gym for 3 months. I do chest/ back and then shoulders/ legs and then arms then take a day off, then start the routine over. This has worked out great, but I am now starting to hit a wall over the past 3 weeks. I have changed my routine slightly, but I am wondering if I am not getting enough rest? Do I need to take a day off in between each day? thanks for any help

If you do this ALL in the same workout, yes rest the muscles. If you work them to soon again, you are not letting them repair themself, and thats what makes them grow. Not only, you will be overtraining. Good results takes time. Good luck and welcome to the community. Others here will give you some advice too.

No I don't do them all in one day, I do chest back on day 1 shoulders/ legs on day 2 arms day 3 and day 4 I take off and then repeat

I have never been a fan of the 3 day straight training sessions. Especially if you are one who trains with intensity. I like/prefer 2 days on, one day off, 1 day on, 1 day off, and recycle. Another method may be 2 on, one off, 2 on, and the weekends off. This will cycle your training some too. You may also need to vary your routine a little more than slightly. The body is a very precise mechanism, and will adapt very quickly to stimulus. A rule of thumb I use is when the gains stop, and for everyone it may be adifferent amount of time, then change. 3 months may also be time for a week off for total rest? You will have to be the judge of that, but it is also a good rule to follow. Just a few thoughts. Good luck.

I completely agree with bb1. There are very few (natural) people out there that can train more than 4 times a week and not run down their body.
