I hate running is it the only way to get a good cardio workout

your not alone! There are many people like yourself that are not a fan of running. There are still many other ways to be active and get a great cardio workout without running. Biking, the eliptical trainer, or the stair master are just a few other options that can be used. Swimming, and some fitness classes such as cardio kickboxing are also great ways to get a good cardio workout. Once you find something you enjoy the most, the more likely you will stick with it. Dont be afraid to switch things up a bit as well!

I have a saying, "I don't run for my health." I have goals that I want to achieve and running will take me to those goals. I don't have to like it but I got to do it. I used to hate it too but now I look forward to it, even though it is hard. Try it out for a little bit and you might get used to it. Good luck.

I personally use a small workout trampoline. It's fun and easy to vary, and I get good cardio out of it.

cycling...road biking is like flying your own small airplane...it takes a few hours and you dont feel like u are exercizing

Cardio will be anything that gets your heart rate up and keeps it up there. It could be running, swimming, doing a workout with weights and keeping the rest periods short (>30seconds). There are a lot of variations on this. I haven't run since last year and I'm still in great cardiovascular shape.

Definitely not!! there are lots of different cardio activities.. you can try bike riding or inline skating these are both really great exercises.. check out http://www.findyourdetour.com for some other great tips..

stick with the running until you get past 2 miles. Things change after that because your body levels off in regards to your breathing, heart rate, and you seem to mentally be more prepared. Even long distance runners deal with the first mile or two with the thoughts of "why am I doing this"
That's why you see so many runners actually running before a race. I never understood this until I did it one day and basically you start the race at mile 2 when you are already geared up for it. Just a thought. there are other alternatives to mix things up, but don't give up on running quite yet. good luck.

After running for many years, I've given it up. It was just too hard on my body. I loved it, but it didn't love me. Personally I think you were either physically born to run or not...I was not! There are tons of things you can do instead, as mentions above. HIIT is a great option, my favorite is on a bike.
