I've started running a few weeks ago. I run 3 times a week for about 30 to 40 minutes. I want to know do I have to increase the food intake or should I be eating regulary like I have been eating until now. More protein or carbohydrats?

it sounds like you are doing some long distance running for enduance or trying to loose wieght. if you are in shape and just running to gain endurance then yes you need to increase your calorie intake. but it sounds like you are running to try and loose wieght so i would suggest that you wath your calories intake and try to cut back on carbs and increase protiens. if you need any running workouts just email me and i can help.

I had a question about running to lose weight. Do you really need to run that much (30-40 minutes) three times a week? I run for about 15 minutes at most about four times a week and I play basketball twice a week on the days I don't work out. Do you think I need to run a lot more to help me lose excess fat and tone up on the areas I want (ie lower chest and abs)?

how intensive is you 15 min. run ? its not only about time, important is also another factor - SPEED. For exmaple- two ppls who run this same distance (or kilometers per week), can be in very diferent shape. If you do 15 min jogging, it is feeble - but 15 min of serious RUN, can be enought. As your overal fitness grow, you can work on lengthening distance or at the same distance increase speed.
