I had a doctors visit this morning before work. I very sadly must report that my lifting days are over. I have gout in my foot and it seems to have spread to my other joints. Right now the pain is controlable but lifting weights will only cause stress to my joints and activate the gout more. So I have been given a choice.....either stop all lifitng, or face a future that is filled with pain and deformed joints.....I am so depressed right now I can hardly function.-------------- Less Talk, More Chalk! 7707mutt@freetrainers.com |

Mutt man what a blow. Is there any way to overcome it? One our dear strength coaches has some real issues and he presses on. What about trying some jointment sport? Maybe even magnetic theraypy? Sounds queer but I have bought a magnetic bracelett and anklet and my knees and shoulder feel 10 times better. I would seek a second opinion maybe a orthopedic or a sports therapist would be able to see things in a differnt light. BUt if you need to anything IM me and ill try to talk you off the driving park bridge.-------------- I am that which must be feared, worshipped and adored. I'm really sorry to hear about your gout problems. I would agree with mike, and say definitely get a second opinion, just incase there are alternatives.
good luck. |

Gout can be controlled by diet etc, it is the results of a build up in uric acid that crystalizes.
Mutt, definately get a 2nd opinion and if you can, see a rheumatologist. -------------- Scales are for dead weight: We are not dead yet! Still trying to find out how to do the Hollywood Free Press. Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |
