... I'm somewhat confused as to how this helps with my abdominal muscles. All I am doing is twisting back and forth. I do feel some tension when I twist, but... I don't know, just seems like a stretch, not an actual exercise

when you twist to one side hold it for a second and feel it in your obliques then come back to the center and repeat to the other side. Make sure your looking straight ahead all of the time. make sure you always concentrate on the muscle your working tha will help a little with form.

It took me a few weeks of seated twists to really get it. If you persevere with it and, as Justin says, really concentrate on squeezing your obliques, you will get there.

I was going through the same question a few weeks ago, and then I realized that I wasn't doing it properly. As they said, squeeze it for a full second, and remember to breathe out when you contract the muscle.
