heard that serious shrinkage happens for guys in the groin area, for women in the chest area, if the bodyfat percent drops down to 2%... lemme know how true it is, if there is any science behind that.

At 2% yes, there would be serious shrinkage. The science involved would be better discussed with a coroner.

Pretty much or very close to it. But relax, BF does effect the size of breasts but not your package.

i asked a nurse, she said u can live with no bodyfat, except if u dont eat ur body will die away and start to consume itself but if u eat ull be fine.

Did the nurse tell you that your unit would shrink too?

Look at BB1's pix. I think he was around 7% BF for that competition from what I remembermin his journal. Hopefully he'll read and help out on this.

For a male, 3-4% bodyfat is absolutely essential. Anything less will entail SERIOUS health problems. Most athletes will start to see their strength and endurance start to suffer when they get into the 5-6% range.

why would you want to be at 2% body fat anyway? You'd have more serious issues than the size of your wilson if your at 2%.

I only experience shrinkage when I am in water for a long period of time.

I would clarify with that nurse what exactly she or he meant. There is a certain amount of bodyfat that is figured into the equations surrounding the kidneys and other internal organs, as well as, that which is required for proper metabolism and even hormone production to some extent. You can not live with 0% bodyfat.

And at 0% BF you should expect both death and serious shrinkage, right Daniel J??

Death should be expected, and it is true that things begin to shrink as they dehydrate following death.

Alright, anything under 5% is a dangerous bodyfat level, but
what about bodybuilders, dont they drop down to 5% levels before competitions?

Ask your nurse friend.

Most of us just measure out bi's, tri's, chest, etc... maybe we should add a new measurement to the Mutt 2004 Fall Challenge?

I was recently reading the Schwarzennager (SP) Encyclopedia, and according to Arnold some of the big guys can look cut at around 12%. He does talk about a period in the early eighties when bodybuilders where cutting down to drastically low percentages, and states that they looked weak, pale and un-healthy. I don't believe the current trend is in that direction.

lol interesting. Just for your own personal information if bodyfat levels become to low your body would start shuting down in self defense. Thats why people that have too low of body fat levels usually get sick more often, because their emmune system becomes too weak and shuts down. And I must agree with Daniel J, I don't think that 2% body fat will be popular anytime soon. Ya sure guys look better when their built and chiseled but 4% BF or lower is a bit ridiculous: :)
