Are white grits a "good" source of slow burning carbs? I realize that you have to 86 the butter and salt, but with a little splenda they are half bad as a compliment to dry whole wheat toast.

I was just curious, I could not find any information regarding grits.

Do you not like oatmeal? Its a pretty complete food. I do also love grits.

Just a tip for my northern friends, when in the south we refer to them as grit. When you go into a restaurant in the south orfer "grit". They will think you are one of us.

I have a quick and stupid question: Is there a difference between grits (oops...grit) and cream of wheat? As you can probably deduce, I've only eaten them a few times in my life and couldn't really tell the difference.

The size of the lumps is the only difference I know of.

Well, grits are derived from corn and cream of wheat is derived from, well wheat :) So I doubt very seriously they are the same although I could be wrong.

Anyone have any insight?

The question of the day is, are grits (not plural for grit), a good , slow burning carb?

Remember, corn is what dextrose is derived from. Opt for the cream of wheat.
