Hi everyone!
I am a new member and would love to hear from others in a similar situation to me. I am 38 yrs old with 4 kids ages 8-3. I'm short so I can't hide extra body weight very well. I do tend to gain muscle easily and never looked as heavy as I really was when I was younger. Now, that compactness doesn't hide it anymore and I want to rebuild myself. I've been divorced a couple of years and really want to get myself into good shape. I have struggled with weight my entire life, and was a compulsive dieter and exerciser throughout high school. Gradually I got heavier and heavier and then with the help of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (a hormonal disorder that is the #1 cause of infertility in women) my metabolism became almost not existent. It's hard to find time and energy to do this but I really want to be in control of my body. I hate being self conscious and I want to be confident in the way I look. I cannot afford a gym so home training is it. Has anyone else lost a big chunk of weight or are you dealing with similar issues? I'd love to find an encouraging buddy to help me stay on track and who could use some encouragement from me. :)
We all have different odds to overcome, the thing is to focus on positive solutions to your own obstacles.
try the at-home training program here. For cardio, check your local library for workout videos/dvd's. my daughter used to sit on the couch and watch while i did aerobic videos. i made it clear that mom needed time for herself to feel healthy and take care of the kid/s. She was pretty good about respecting that from an early age. the other option is to get up an hour earlier and do your workout, but my daughter caught onto that and starting adjusting her wake-up schedule...
There are lots of great posts on eating in the nutrition forum, check out the grocery list for healthy eating and start eating 5-6 small meals a day, it will boost your metabolism.
Print out your post above and reread it whenever you don't feel like doing your exercise, or when you feel like eating garbage that won't get you any closer to your goals.
You can do it!
