I have tried these a few times at an old gym that had the proper equipment. The gym I go to now does not have the equipment shown in the demo on this site. Does anyone out there know of any peices of equpimnet that I can finagle to get the same motion/stretch/workout?
Thanks!

Don't know what equipment you are referring to, but in the demo I saw the guy was just holding a plate over his upper body. Don't know why they call these 'sissy', they are hard.

In the demo he is in a leg apperatus which has a pad on shins and behind knees to kind of lock lower legs in position to execute the move. I do not have access to it at my new gym though

You do not need a machine to do sissy squats. I do them all the time on leg day, supersetted with extensions. Simply put your hand out against the anything the right height simply for guidance, not support, and lean back and squat. For extra resistance you can use the Smith machine. Without adding any weight, simply place your hands crossed under the bar, now squat, and raise back up, feet about a foot in front of you. This will add some nice resistance to it.

Yeah, i have never used anything other than a post for a little support, I hold a dumb bell over my hips in the front for extra resistance.

I normally stand with the front bit of my foot on a plank of wood so it’s just raised of the floor (I find this gives me a bit of extra room for when I contract my thighs), other than that all I use is a mirror to check form and the side of a machine for stability. I don’t even use extra weights just do them slowly concentrating on the form.
