As a fellow skinny guy, all I can say is...

Patience is a virtue. Patience, heavy weights with low reps, and a metric butt-ton of protein.

Ectomorphs should also stay away from cardio and get comfy with carbs. If you have a hard time gaining weight period, you can rest assured that if you manage to pack some fat on the side of all that muscle, you'll probably be able to lose it pretty quick.

How much cardio do you recommend for an ectomorph?

if you're going to do cardio you should do interval sprints and probably only do it once a week, maybe a short 10-15 min run a couple times a wk also. look at sprinters in comparison to marathon runners. sprinting helps stimulate muscle growth while burning fat. I'm an ectomorph and have been an avid menshealth reader for about 5 years now(and i'm 21) finally broke 160lbs and i'm 6'1 my body seems to be happiest between 145 and 150 lbs for some reason but i showed it!
