There are 2 basic ways to do this, and they work best together. One is expend more calories by more exercise than you take in, thus creating a caloric deficit, or the other is reduce your current intake of calories by 200-250 per day. An even better solution is to combine the two. It takes approximately 3500 calories to lose a lb. So therefore, if you do it right, at 250 calories per day deficit, this will lead to a 1/2 lb. loss per week. Add in some exercise, and you will have more. The reason I suggest this small amount is too large an amount will result in an immediate muscle loss instead of fat. This amount will not "shock" your body either, it will never know and you will not feel fatigued, etc. like a diet.
