hello all!
Found out today that I have a slipped disc in my back and man does it hurt! Is it safe to still lift? I'm trying to lose weight so I guess I could lower the weight and work on form, but is that safe? and is it safe to still run when it starts to heal? I imagine that could take a few days.
Thanks for any advice.

Let me see if I understand you.....you have a slipped disk and want know if it is ok to lift?.......in a word NO! Anytime you have an injury like that, the best thing to do is rest it and give it time to heal.....further lifting can and most likely cause a worse injury. Talk to a doc about it before starting back....

I called the doc to make an appoitment and he was only working 1/2 day today and I could not get in to see him. I told the nurse on the phone what happened and they said that they would call in some wonder drugs for me. I have a feeling that it will be a muscle relaxer. I will not lift for at least one week to let it heal.

Wow, what a devotee, i didn't know they were still around "cut of my arms and legs and i will still find a way to lift something"

okay so i thought about taking a WALK today to try and slowly work back into the swing of things. Is this a bad idea? back feels better but sure it still has some time before its normal. Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear about the injury tommishuck. I seriously don't think you should lift or do any strenuous activities. The star of my school's basketball team suffered a bulging disc in his back during the summer and missed the entire season. His doctor advised him to not play basketball or lift for like 4 months.
