1. I've heard that it can inhibit strength, is this true?
2. Does it build mass without resistance training?
3. In general, how often can it be done without overtraining?
4. Can it be done in distance intervals as oppose to time (sprint 100m, walk 10m, sprint 100m etc.)

Dude, type it into the search box on this site. It has been discussed once or twice...you can find good information.

True, but it's hard to find the answers to those specific questions.

Quoting from Tinnuk:
1. I've heard that it can inhibit strength, is this true?
It is true that a higher volume of cardio will tend to reduce the ability gain strength and size.
2. Does it build mass without resistance training?
Depends...are you doing sprints. these babies will build nice legs.
3. In general, how often can it be done without overtraining?
No idea, but I imagine that it is largely dependent on your current level of conditioning.
4. Can it be done in distance intervals as oppose to time (sprint 100m, walk 10m, sprint 100m etc.)
Yes.

Quoting from Tinnuk:
1. I've heard that it can inhibit strength, is this true?
It is neurally intensive, as is strength training. If you impede neural recovery, you will reduce your ability to gain strength.
This will, however, depend on the volume of HIIT and other CNS intensive activities (ME, DE, plyometrics, etc)
2. Does it build mass without resistance training?
It can. Sprinters are normally fairly muscular, but this will also come down to diet and other factors.
3. In general, how often can it be done without overtraining?
Depends on your work capacity, and more importantly, how much other stuff you are doing.
4. Can it be done in distance intervals as oppose to time (sprint 100m, walk 10m, sprint 100m etc.)
Why not?
