I'm a little frustrated this morning.
Somebody tell me a story about how they kept after their clean diet and exercise and one morning they got out of bed and discovered that the nubile, nymphlike, teenqueen fairy had paid them a visit. I'm not shoving one more can of tuna until I hear one. If nobody tells me one of these stories, I'm going out and putting a doughnut to my head. I'm on week 6 and I'm so tired of trying to eat more, eat more, eat more I could scream. Thanks for the help. -------------- Anni Never pet a burning dog. |

Geez I'd love to wake up and realize that a young, nubile, teenqueen fairy had visited me in bed! In all seriousness, it happens, it happens slowly. I was reaching for something the other day, and there they werre...striations! Striations in my shoulders! What an amazing feeling! Or when you put on a T-shirt, and the arm is tight all the way around! As it's getting warmer, I put on some shorts from last summer, they literally fell straight to the floor. Anni, these feelings are worth eating tuna, straight from the can, for 4 months straight. anni - jcannuck is right - you need to give yourself a cheat day every now and then. I actually schedule it onto my Outlook calendar so I have something to look forward to!
You will notice changes, gradually, and when they happen, it is very exciting. I can remember shaving my legs one day and , holy crap! look at all the definition!I think I twisted my legs around in all angles in amazement! Then another time I had my arms crossed at the gym, saw myself in the mirror - my forearms and biceps had much definition there to. Later on, someone complimented me on my shoulders and, well didn't that just make my day - how often does one get a shoulder compliment??? lol The point I am trying to make is that no, the changes may not come all at once in one big visit from the teenqueen fairy(lol). But when they do - I think you may find that all that hard work you put into this will be extremely rewarding. You will gain strength, not only physically, but mentally to. I don't think an instant fix could ever provide that. Hope this helps. And don't forget to enjoy a cheat day - it is okay!:) |

I went through the exact same thing around week 6&7. I am really starting to see all the hard work pay off. I am now on my second program. I didn't start to see the results I wanted until about week 10. It is a slow process if you follow everything correctly, but the payoff is great!
I still struggle somedays but just keep thinking of all the benefits eating healthy & exercise does for me. I always allow myself 1 cheat day a week. All the people here on FT have given me the motivation to keep going. |

I have a cheat meal once a week.
I think it's really important to try to enjoy the journey to your goal as well or you'll lose motivation |

anni - do you take photos/ When we see ourselves everyday we don't register changes. but if you take a photo every two or three weeks you will see some new muscle or a little definition that wasn't there before. i have a flipbook of my photos from 210 to 145 lbs, it is pretty cool to see the changes each set of photos. It is also a good way to see if what you are doing is working. If you look exactly the same everytime - you need to fine tune something.
It is worth it! switch from tuna to delcious grilled chicken, lean pork, lean beef, oooh, fresh fish on the grill, shrimp on the barbie. make it interesting. check out emeril's seasoning blends (POW!). This is a lifestyle, it won't stick if you are miserable. Good luck! -------------- If you fall down seven times, get up eight. |

It's true.... it's a slow process, but worth it.... I've noticed a change in my abs (no six pack, but at least the gut is smaller than it used to be).... the shoulders and biceps are a lot different and so are the legs... great feeling... been at it for a year, and I'm not quite where I wanna be, but getting there... and my wife has noticed the changes too...
And, like asimmer says, take the pix... that's one of the best ways to note the changes.. t -------------- Tim "I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies, for the hardest victory is over self." Aristotle TimDay@freetrainers.com |

Hope I don't come across as negative...Eating clean and eating enough of the right stuff, being disiplined to hit the weights, do cardio, do some HIIT, change it all up, schedule time off, and along the way; learning what food, what exercises, etc etc etc thats works for you. As I have heard; it is a lifestyle, and unfortunately I do not have the day in and day out disipline for all the above. Over a year ago I was doing nothing, I was about 280 lbs at 5'9. I was unhealthy as hell, and being in the upper 30's, my wife was concerned, and more importantly, so was I.
Set small goals, schedule a break, write it down, take measurements, take a picture. Examples of goals for me were things like; drink a gallon of water a day for 3 days. walk around the block everyday for the next 5 days. Small goals!!! Treat yourself, and at the same time, set new goals. Everybody is at different levels when it comes to all this weightlifting, cardio, nutrition, etc etc etc... I keep harping on goals, but I truly believe that you have to set them, put a time on them, and reward yourself for a job well done. Good luck, and keep us posted with your successes, and small failures. One hell of a community here! Sincerely, Mike 5'9 225lbs Normal B/P, and under construction for the rest of my life. |

I have a friend at the gym who used to a pro body builder.
If fact he was Mr. Colorado years ago, and he still looks great! Anyway, I asked him if he would train me? He said I didn't need it, I was doing fine on my own. That made me feel really good! :dumbbell::love::dumbbell: -------------- We must take care of our bodies, its where we live. |
