Hello nowhiteflags and welcome to freetrainers. Congratulations on your success and turning yourself around.
You will find that working out will make your metabolism work faster, and help you reach the goal that you want. Don't rush, be pateint, and the abs and all the rest will show. Keep doing what your doing in the kitchen, the abs will show when you get to about 10-15% bodyfat. I wouldn't use a liquid protein. Powder is best in my opinion, because it is being made up fresh everytime it's needed, and other products can be mixed with it. Make sure you drink lots of water daily. at leat 64oz. Keep up the good work.

A good starting point is to fill out the exercise, nutrition tracker and profile pages. To give a good base to start from and review your stats fully 3 monthly(or more, but not daily).. Really good info that you create yourself by filling in the diary and then these message boards are great motivation, the feedback is awesome at times. I keep a training log at the gym and try to whack a kilo onto every exercise every visit... or a couple of extra reps- seeing what I used to do and what I do do today, is the biggest motivator for me- then the tape measure too!
However you lose weight- you know slowly is best with no fads or changes to what's already a good working lifestyle.
At 180 you are doing better than the majority- Be proud and continue to be an inspiration to the rest of us!

Just so you know, the body builders in mags are on tones and tones of drugs( steriods and prohormones mainly) plus they are paid to do nothing but work out but besides that, congrads on geting rid of all that weight, I too was once that big. BUt yes like they all say its not a quick process, when I started working out, my arms were about 16 in my freshman year in high school. Now I work out off and on, and when I was serious abotu working out was my senior year, they where about around 17 in(about 2 1/2 yrs ago) Now they are just shy of 19 itsd has taken time, I wanted quick results and got fustrated, but then I realized the more I worked out, and the closer I watched what I eat, and the more I read about what I should do , and proper techniques the more I grew. Most of working out is an expierement se what works best for you, then in about a year you'll know what works for you then you can really grow. Good luck and congrads,
