Hi Teensy, clicking and popping is okay as long as it doesn't hurt. I sound like a socket wrench. As to the knees you may want to try an exercise that is lower impact. You have to judge when it's time to see a doctor. Glucosamine and Condroiten may help joint pain. It helps about 30% who use it. It helps me and does nothing for my wife.
Icing right after the pain starts and then applying heat may help.

Knee pain can be caused by the wrong running shoe. Depending if you over-pronate, under-pronate or have a neutral stride, and the wrong shoe can tear up your knees. If you choose to continue running you might want to check a local running shop to see if they can analyze your stride and recommend a shoe. Good luck!

Hi Teensy,
I got the clicking hip thing as well. It's annoying but won't cause any harm. I find that stretching helps.
Where is the pain exactly? Do you run a lot? Pain only after running?
Don't push yourself past this kind of pain. Knees are important :)
