I started the South Beach Diet last Wednesday. For the first 2 weeks it is virtually no carbs other that vegetables and then not all. Week 3 you can slowly start to add low glycemic carbs.
I work out every day and today I was able to lift my weights but could not finish my cardio workout due to lack of energy.
In the long run, diets don't work. Most of us have tried at least a few of them, but I don' know anyone who can stay on one for the rest of their lives. Use the advice here on FT to create your own healthy eating plan. One you CAN live with for the rest of your life.

I am following it right now and if followed correctly you should have more than enough energy to workout properly in fact the whole point of it really is to be more energized and less sluggish. If followed properly it is one that can be followed for life...it is about changing your lifestyle not just following a regimented diet. On phase 3 you will have learned a healthy way to eat. It is well balanced, nutritional and fun....there are some great recipes that are very tasty and different for each day.
But the important think people need to remember is that consistency is the key....whatever your plan and have fun with it!
