is the special k cereal for two meals a day a good idea? are there any risks involved, and would one actually lose weight? I'm going to try it... I bought the Special K low carb kind with a fat free milk for breakfast and lunch. I plan to eat veggies and fruits for snacks and a regular dinner. Do you think that this will work?

candeapl21 I think there is every chance that you would temporarily lose weight, but that kind of diet just isn't sustainable. I think in the end it may backfire on you and you will end up needing to lose more weight.

I know that fad diets are tempting, but changing your lifestyle is the only long-term answer. Pick out a plan here on FT, and use the bodybuilder grocery list to make your food choices. Developing good eating habits is the key to the kind of success you are looking for.

they make low carb special k?? interesting...

i did a version of the special k diet and ended up not losing any weight because i wasn't getting enough calories in. personally, i love special k and would eat it for every meal of the day if i could get all the nutrients i needed out of it, but for my caloric intake and protien needs, this is unfortunately not the case.

i don't see why it wouldn't work if you were meeting your minimum calorie needs for the day and snacking in between. however, the striking similarites between special k and rice krispies makes me skeptical about how good special k really is for you. sometimes i think that the just invented rice krispies because "snap, crackle, pop, special k" didn't sound good. but i digress...

i'm sure asimmer or bb1fit will jump in and answer all of your questions about this because they are a lot smarter than i am and can actually interpret those numbers and ingredients on the side of the box.

oh, and anni is right, the lifestyle change is what will really do it for you. it takes more to lose a few extra pounds than eating special k for 6 weeks. this site is a wealth of resources for making healthy eating a part of your daily routine. use them to your advantage!
