I had a double slipped disk that lasted on and off for about 5 years; I found that the best thing to do was to swim as often as possible; it's good for every muscle.

Been there done that. One thing you need to make sure of is that you lock you abs on every exercise. Really freeze those puppies. They'll stabilize your back to a point. You want to be careful of the overhead press moves but you can do pull downs till the cows come home.

I have herniated disk from a car wreck years ago and I've tried EVERYTHING...

For 3 months I couldn't work I was in so much pain, taking pain meds and sitting in traction for 6 hours a day.. after trying everything including acupuncture.. massage worked for me!I even talked to a surgeon.. trust me.. massage works if you find someone trained in DEEP tisssue and understands these types of injuries.. it really works!

Good LUCK!

I think this would be a good question for a professional, since it's really a hands on type of situation. Good luck.
