my exercise program said stairmaster. I thought 'no problem' until I got to the gym and tried to figure out which machine it was actually talking about. There are a few machines at the gym that say stair master - which one is the one that I'm suppose to use for cardio? One machine is a stair mill, you constantly walk up the stairs. Another says it is a climber and another looks like a cross between an elliptical and the climber. So whats what?

Honestly, either should be ok. I personally can't do the one that is like constant stairs because it hurts my knees too much. Why don't you give them both a try and see which you like the best. Or alternate them. It's not an exact science. :)

The first one is what is traditionally thought of as a stairmaster, esentially an escalator.
The second one is a machine sometimes called a "treadclimber" that is made by the stairmaster company.
