I'm new and am wanting to tone up and lean out my lower body. I'm 5'11 and weigh around 170. I keep active.

I've gone back to stairs, and have been doing them in intervals, as I feel I get on hell of a good workout, both cardio and legs. 1 minute high, 1 min low for 45 mins. I've been doing this for about a month, and I've definitely noticed my jeans fitting tighter in the legs only, though I've lost a little weight. Am I smart to continue, assuming the fat loss will increase? My legs feel great.

Yes this is a great cardio workout...however you should probably substitute some other forms to give your body a different kidn of challenge and maybe try swimming once in a while to give your joints a break....

Also try to increase intensity time after time...get through 100 steps in X time...then lower the time...so that you're runnin gup the steps faster and faster....
