you just answered part of your own question lol. The other keys are food a ton of food along with good quality sleep.

Yeah, you answered your own question - heavy, compound workouts, good food, adequate rest... you really don't need a ton of extra calories to build mass, maybe an extra 200 calories a day.
Rest will facilitate rebuilding and recovery.
Adequate hydration will boost your strength capacity.
are you trainig for a specific sport/activity?
