Hi, i am new to this site, and i am still having a hard time figuring everything out. I am a dietetics student in my last year of college, so i have a lot of nutritional knowledge. I really only eat healthful foods, high protein, complex carbs, plenty of fiber, good fats, very low saturated fat. However, with all of the knowledge i have, i cant seem to help myself. I definitly do not practice what i preach. I do cardio, probably too much, but i feel cardio should burn the calories and get rid of the weight. I was eating about 1000 calories a day and burning 600 - 750, i know this is causing me to go into a starvation mode and killing my metabolism, but i am afraid to eat more and work out less. I am so afraid to gain any more weight. I am 23y.o. female 128lbs. and 5'4. I have started weight training and am trying to increase my calories, but it really is hard to eat more food.

Here is my current plan....

5 days weight training, different muscle group each day (chest-m, back-t, legs-w, shoulders-th, and bi's/tri's-f.)
about 45-60min per day
Cardio - 4-5days 1 hour sessions
Food - TRYING to aim for 1800-2000 calories per day.

Please help me change this in any way to increase fat loss and increase lean body mass, i am willing to try anything, i am ready to look and feel healthy. These starvation diets with too much cardio are wearing me down and only making me heavier. Also please help me understand the concept that eating more calories can help me lose weight??? it is so hard for me to fathom.

I really appreciate everyones time and help. I really hope this website will help me find my way to success.

Hey Alison - I'm not being sarcastic but you have an obvious case of adequate knowledge but inadequate wisdom to apply it. Read (really read) what your post says and you'll find virtually every answer that we could give you already written by you.

I definitly get what youre saying, what a true way to put it. I think i really just want to hear an answer from someone who really knows what they are talking about because i really doubt myself since ive been doing things incorrectly for so long. ive just been so stubborn and set in my ways, and now i am ready for a change. i guess im also looking for some inspiring and encouraging words. Thanks for your answer.:big_smile::big_smile:

..also, besides listening to yourself  don't forget to fill out your profile, the more people know about your habits, current workout routine, health, etc the better they can address your questions. Good luck!
