Hey guys

Has anyone ever tried Super Slow Training? Did it produce any results, or did you even notice a difference? What IS the difference between super slow training and regular training?

Not sure what you mean, Is this where you lift 1 rep very slowly and then move on?

Not necessarily one rep. You just preform a rep MUCH slower than you normally would.

I really see no point, It should be controlled, but not taking 4 or 5 secs to perform one rep. Besides doing a warm up set like this, I really see no reson to do it. You can hurt your joints, pull a muscle etc.

also if you train slow, you'll be slow. If you play any kinda of sports, this is counterproductive. Saem with weight training, you do se 1000 lb bench press power lifters taken 5 and 6 secs to lift a rep. They want it up as fast and controlled as possible.

I,m no expert but I think its FAST twich fibers that we are trying to build. From the advise I have been given on this board I would say that super slow training may be used as a shocking tacktick I personaly think that lifting fast without cheating and then lowering it slowly is more benificial, and according to bb1fit (whos advise and experiance I regard as good), more damge is done when trying to restrain the weight as it is being lowerd, thus this would produce more growth in the long run.

Think of it this way: Normally on the last rep to failure, lifting the heavy poundage is not easy and normally takes alot of mental focus. Of course you want it up and be done as fast as possible but that one last rep is sometimes the rep that truly counts which depletes the targeted muscle to complete failure. And the time it takes to left that one rep? Yikes.. 3-5 seconds or somtimes more and the motion is so slow that it becomes almost a static hold.

Lifting slowly does not hurt the joints nor will it pull any muscles. Damage is done when you incorporate unnecessary help from other muscle groups or use improper form. Training slow does not mean that the specific individual will be slow at all. Not the case, it actually improves performance. Lifting slowly has many advantages. Experiment and give it a try. It's not meant for everyone but many do like it.

From my expierance in lifting if a life takes that long ageis....5 to 6 secs? Then you lose control of that weight, and you have to cheat to get it up. And when you cheat is when you strain or pull somthimg. I believe in pushing and taking it to the max, but if it takes that long, then I need to either rack it, or lower the weight.

Fast twitch fibers are like 25 % larger than slow twitch. So a controled descent and a powerful drive, is where i think the best muscle gains will be seen.

i used to use just ordinary 'controled' movements until i heard of this super slow thing... i use it mostly when benching, though... i lower the bar to my chest in about three seconds and lift it in one to one and a half seconds...

i don't get as many reps as i would (using the same weight) doing it in a 'faster' pace, but i do feel that the overall quality of the exercise is way way better... even the results have been better... and i haven't gotten hurt or killed doing this, so i don't see how that could possibly be bad...

This is a good shocking method of training as the focus is on the negative part of the movement. I use this (sometimes) when doing cheat curls, bench press and military press. The number of reps. go down dramatically and so does the weight so I would highly recommend a spotter.
