Hello AllJust wondering what supplements you use to aid your workouts. As women I know our needs are different from men so I didn't know where to look for advice. What's best for muscle recovery etc.? Thanks! |

Two good multi vitamines, chrome, protein powder, glutamine and a fat burner is what I take daily for the moment. Later I'll take creatine again. Muscle recovery? A goooooood massage! (o: |

Same as above but add ZMA at bedtime and (vitamin pacs are great cuz they have it all). I prefer L-carnitine and Chromium over the fat burners when trying to lose bodyfat. Unless you are competing the fat burners aren't necessary for recovery. |

Right now, I just take protein powder and a children's vitamin (blush). I plan on adding Hydroxycut for my next 12 week session to help shed the rest of this fat. I would suggest, if you are on a budget, that multivitamins and protein powder are the two most essential supplements. Anything after that helps, I'm sure, but the first two are a good base to start with. |

because i train and lift with women i learn all i can so as to be as helpful as i can, my question to your post is do you take any iron pilss or substitute by eating vegies that help in iron such as beets ? being in nutrition too i was tuaght that because of a womans cycle in loosing blood that beets are a very good source. i know some multi-vitamins are geared toward women and are high in iron. i hope i did not intrude in this post with you ladies. thanks david |

The prob with beets is the iron inside is not well absorbed (only 3-5%) The iron in meat is absorbed a lot better (around 10%). That's why so many vegetariens even if they eat lots of veggies and beets still got a need to take extra iron pills.Nutrition is an amazing thing and we all need more micronutritions than we possible can imagine..... |

I've heard (though I am prone to being wrong!) that Xenadrine is very high in ephedrine which is bad bad for you. You might try hydroxycut, which still has ephedrine, but at a much lower dose. I've heard excellent things about it. |

Thanks for all the posts! I definitely will look into the supplements you all have mentioned. Right now I'm just taking a multivitamin from GNC so...I could definitely use more supplements in my routine. Another question I have is...have any of you ever had bad side effects from fat burners? Last year I was taking Metabolift and I had palpitations even when I was taking half of the recommended dose. I'm wary of them now because of what I have heard about the ephedra(ephedrine) in them. |

My mother took Metabolife and began having seizures. She's now on anti-seizure meds for the rest of her life. I know not everyone reacts badly to ephedra, but it's something I'll never take. |

I use hydroxycut and nitrotech. I have been taking it for 3 1/2 weeks and have lost 10 lbs. I am almost at my goals and than the makers of muscletech and FT. With them both combined, I have an increased energy level and feel great about myself. |

That's the difficult thing about fat burners..... You cannot say if they'll work for you or not before you have tried them. One thing is sure thou, without diet and training next to the pills, you'll not get any good results. |
