Can someone give me some advice its just costing too much money here is what I typically spend in a month:
1. Whey Protein $75
2. Creatine $50
3. HMB $45
4. L-Glutamine $45
thats $215/month and if you include my gym membership ($35) it makes it $250/month not including all the other foods I have to buy.

I have a family of four so my food is different than the rest of teh family so it is costly. Any other family people out there that can shed some light on this for me?

tmann is right. A 2 lb. jug can easily last a month, and you can get Optimum whey for example even at GNC for 20 bucks.. If you go to a source like proteincustomizer you can get your own blend for even less. You really only need the whey post workout. The rest of the day take in whole foods.

And 50 dollars on creatine? Again, what type are you using? And once loaded, on 5 gr. dose per day is all you need.

HMB is not necessary, very as yet unproven by itself, and if you do not have the money to afford it, it is sure unwise to use it not even sure of the results.

And Glutamine, again, you can buy Glutapure(which I use) for 25 dollars and it should last you a couple months at least. If you are bulking, this is something you may even do without.(I would not advise it if your calorie intake is low though).

In all sincerety, get your protein if you are strapped for cash and forget the rest. Eat good and rest.

I am in Canada the prices are more expensive I pay $37 for 908g of whey
As for my creatine I am thinking of going off it but I researched creatine quite hard a few years ago and the most popular thing said was take 5g before the workout and 5g post workout so thats 10g a day (in the first week (loading phase)the dosage is doubled)
I could probably do without HMB I am using it because I am trying to tone. Now in Wal-Mart I buy my glutamine for $30 but it says to take 4 capsules daily and its a 60 capsule bottle so thats only 15 days worth.

Any moer help BB1 would be appreciated

As far as glutamine, if you are going to use it on a bulk, (it is great for the immune system and overtraining for instance), I would opt for immediately post workout only. 5 gr. would be a good dose.

i live in canada too and i get 5 lbs of protein for $40, 2 lbs of glutamine (which usually last me for about 4 months) for $55, and 2 lbs of creatine for $35

If you live out west, your better off to order off the net, much cheaper than in stores.

Carivan, one of our mods also is a Canada native. You may want to IM him, and I am sure he can help you out with the best and cheapest places to buy.

Ya I am out west and you would think they lace teh protein in gold or something at GNC a 5lb tub of protein is nearly $100. I am curious as to why it is so much more expensive out here even though we live in the same country...

I have no idea. I buy off a store back in ontario (sndcanada.com) and they are at least 20-30% cheaper than here in Vancouver. I bought off GNC once and they tried to sell me some card so that i could get stuff at prices that are still above normal.

I would definately check out www.buffmusclestuff.com. they are a store based out of Edmonton and seem to have the current hold on the lowest prices in Canada

www.bodybuilding.com has great prices too.

for your whey, just buy in bulk. a 5lb or 10 lb. investment would be much more worthwhile and cost effective. and its not as if you arent going through it.. :)

for your creatine, get a monohydrate powder. get 1 kg or 500 gr or something big that will last you awhile, and mix it with gatorade or juice postworkout if you are budgeting. you'll still get the insulin spike, but much cheaper than buying the premixed creatines.

In just looking closer at your monthly spends you should be buying a lot large containers of everything. For whey protein you can get 100% whey 10lb for $79.99 CAN, 1kg Creapure Creatine $34.99 CAN and 1kg Glutamine $54.99 CAN. ALso on the site buffmusclestuff.com when I bought last time they give 5% off on top of that if you buy $200. Even if you got products similar to those I bet you would save a lot of money per month.

Is GNC more expensive in Canada than south of the border? I just picked up a 6 lb. tub of their 100% whey this morning for 23.99 U.S. after the discounts and sale price.

Sorry missed this one. You may want to try supplementscanada.com they have warehouses in eastern and western canada and also have retail outlets under the name of Popeye's. I am paying $45.0 for an excellent quality whey.

Hey all,

Just got word that Vantedge Nutrition has finally opened here in Canada. They appear to offer bulk commercial protein at less than comemrcial/brand name pricing.

For example, Whey Concentrate goes for $4.99/lb and that's regardless or whether you order 2lbs or 20lbs unlike some other companies where you only get the "low pricing" if buying 40 and 50lbs at a time.

Isolate is a wicked price too it looks like.

And both come flavoured!

Definitely a clean and professional looking site with some good reviews on the product thus far.

Check it out: http://www.vantedgenutrition.com

Peace out!
