Hi
Are sweetners bad for you? They only contain 2 calories per teaspoon! Also they contain a substance called aspartamine a source of phenylanine but why is that bad for you? Should I use sweetners? |

I use sweetners once in a while. I can't eat oatmeal without them.
But I can't imagine they are not bad. They are all artificial. I figure if I can't pronounce the ingredients in something, it probably is not good for me. -------------- ~Jennifer http://www.gwindalyn.com |

Use Splenda, it's made from actual sugar minus the calories.
Nutrasweet & the other "sweetners" that have aspartatmine (or any food that has that in it) is nothing short of chemicals that your body CANNOT process properly. When you're body can't process things they are similiar to toxins hanging out in your body for years to come. Just food for thought, the average person has 10-15 pounds of "built up waste toxins" in their bodies from a life of consuming "processed" foods. -------------- You only get ONE body, take care of it and it'll take care of YOU! |

Well, you have to detox your body. Toxins (from preservatives/chemicals you've eaten & just everyday pollutants) are compounded in your body over time, & they are throughout your body: lungs, kidneys, etc.,)
Here's some product info: ULTIMATE CLEANSE® The original complete internal body cleanser that helps you detoxify all five channels of elimination (bowel, kidney, lungs, skin and lymphatic system) as well as other organs, blood, cells and tissue with results you can feel in as little as 7 days. Ultimate Cleanse is 100% natural and contains the purest blend of herbs and fibers that gently sweep away wastes and toxins.* http://www.naturessecret.com/ourproducts/NS_ourproducts.htm -------------- You only get ONE body, take care of it and it'll take care of YOU! |

STOP STOP STOP!! Do you guys know what aspertame is? Aspartame is the amino acid Aspartic acid. And guess what guys, YOU CONSUME IT IN YOUR DIET ANYWAY!! So, it doesn't matter if you use sweetners or not, your going to consume it anyway. PKU is a disease often attributed to an enzyme lacking the ability to process this amino acid. The warnings they give on these products are meant for those who ACTUALLY have PKU. Unless you were told at birth you had this problem, then there is no reason why aspartame would give people problems. And, women are most often diagnosed with this, but it is somewhat rare.

The compound phenylanine is 50% of aspartame. It blocks ceratonin from getting into our brain cells, that is the chemical that keeps us happy. In turn can cause depression, nervousness and in some cases convulsions. One would have to drink about 8-10 glasses a day of a diet drink, to reach a minimum level of toxicity.
Airline pilots are forbidden to consume aspartame in any products. So...is it aspartame laced products or splenda? -------------- We must become the change we want to see. Ivan Montreal Canada |

They aren't bad as long as you don't over due it. Just like anything. Diets shouldn't be the enemy. You should make them work for you. Eat the foods you like. Just eat more of the healthier ones and less of the bad ones. You can cheat once in a while. It will not hurt anything as long as you eat right in the first place.-------------- Lisa Just laugh about it.... |

Why consciously ADD to your daily toxin exposure by consuming products that may do more harm then good?
Here's some reading material for those whom are interested: Each year, people are exposed to thousands of toxic chemical and pollutants in the Earth's atmosphere, water, food, and soil. These toxins manifest themselves in the body in a variety of symptoms, including decreased immune function, neurotoxicity, hormonal dysfunction, psychological or mood disturbances, and even cancer. Detoxification therapy helps to rid the body of chemicals and pollutants and can facilitate a return to health. Detoxifications is the body's natural process of eliminating or neutralizing toxins via the liver, kidneys, and lungs, as well as in urine, feces, and through the sweat. Today, people are exposed to chemicals in far greater concentrations than were previous generations: over 69 million Americans live in areas that exceed smog standards most drinking water contains over 700 chemicals, including excessive levels of lead some 3,000 chemicals are added to the food supply; and thousands of chemicals in the form of solvents and preservatives are used in food processing and storage which can remain in the body for years. To make matters worse, food and product labels do not always list every ingredient. When people consume these foods-especially seafood, meat, dairy products, and poultry-they ingest all the chemicals and pesticides that have remained as contaminants in the food chain. "The current level of chemicals in the food and water supply, and the indoor and outdoor environment, has lowered our threshold of resistance to disease and has altered our body's metabolism, causing enzyme dysfunction, nutritional deficiencies, and hormonal imbalances," says Marshall Mandell, M.D., father of the field of bio-ecologic medicine. Bio-accumulation, a buildup in the body of foreign substances, seriously compromises physiological and psychological health. Over the last ten years, hundreds of studies have demonstrated the dangers to health from toxic bio-accumulation. A body with a healthy immune system, efficient organs of elimination and detoxification, and a sound circulatory and nervous system can handle a great deal of toxicity," states, Leon Chaitow, N.D., D.O., of London, England. "But if the body has been damaged from chronic exposure to environmental pollutants, restoring these organs, and systems can be accomplished only through detoxification therapies, including fasting, chelation, and nutritional, herbal, and homeopathic methods, which accelerate the body's own natural cleansing processes. These therapies will dominate medical thinking in the years ahead." "The process of detoxification, through special cleansing diets as well as juice and water fasts, is the missing link to rejuvenation the body and preventing such chronic diseases as cancer, cardiovascular problems, arthritis, diabetes, and obesity," says Elson Haas, M.D., Director of the Preventive Medical Center of Marin, in San Rafael, California, and author of The Detox Diet. "The modern diet, with excess animal proteins, fats, caffeine, alcohol, and chemicals, inhibits the optimum functions of our cells and tissues. The cleansing of toxins and waste products will restore function and vitality." -------------- You only get ONE body, take care of it and it'll take care of YOU! |

I believe the FDA has done seven independent studies on aspartame and all found it to be harmless unless taken in absurd doses (somewhere in the hundreds of "packets" per day) and you know how tight the FDA is...relax...
I use Splenda now, though, cuz it tastes better. -------------- --There are no versions of the truth.-- Jeff Goldblum, Jurassic Park II |
