I'm interested in fat loss. I'm 19, fairly muscular, but over the summer slacked off and now have a little too much fat. I workout out 3-4 times a week, and I was trying to find the perfect cardio routine to add to my weight training. I stumbled upon this "tabata protocol". I don't know if this is old news, but it seemed intriguing enough to try. If you don't know what it is, it's basically interval training where you have a brief warm-up, then 20 seconds of extreme intensity cardio (on a bike or sprinting or whatever) followed by 10 seconds of moderate intensity. You repeat that for 4 minutes and apparently the effects are astounding, even better than moderate intensity cardio for 45 minutes. Ok, now that that's out of the way, I was wondering how many days a week a should incorporate this routine. I know too much cardio is detrimental to muscle gains. However, i would do my cardio first thing in the morning, and my weight training closer to the end of the day, so there would be plenty of time in between. Anyone have any thoughts and/or success stories with this tabata routine?
