how many minutes after a workout should you take your protein shake?

I do mine immediately. I bring my shaker bottle and measured protein a baggie, and go right to my locker and mix it up and chug it down.

Yup. There is supposed to be a one hour window of opportunity after your workout where your muscles are ready to suck up nutrients..

If I feel exhausted or tired during my work out I even drink a little bit of my protein shake in between the exercises.
For faster absorbtion mix the Whey protein powder with water.

When training really heavy I will stop to have a shake after my weight routine, before my cardio - try to go low or no carb there though or it slows you down on the cardio (too full..)
