Supplements can be a great aid with your health and fitness goals. Combined with the proper exercise and nutritional plan they can be quite effective.

Can teenagers take supplements when it's regarding to fitness wise? The only supplement I take is Protein Powder...cause my intentions are that for some reason I belive that supplements in teenagers can be bad for you. Are they?

Well if we talk about vitamines, calcium, iron and things like that, I'll say not a problem make sure of getting what you need!!!

Other supplements (even protein powder) I'll say, try getting it in your food!! Of course there is no harm of taking a protein shake or bar once in a while but still eat real food.

If you eat a balanced diet, there are very few people in the world that need to take extra vitamins. There's a very informative book out there called "The Vitamin Pushers" that explains the rationale for the food guide. I read this a while ago, researched it more, and tossed out the rest of the vitamins in the house.

Well, I have to totally disagree with gwood. Maybe at one time this was true, but in the days of processed foods, the food chain is probably responsible for more deaths than anything. They process all the quality out of the foods. As a teen, a good multiple vitamin is the start of a sound nutritional base for life. I think as far as suplements such as creatine, I would wait. As a teen you still have so much normal potential to reach. Supplements are really best after you reach your own potential first, then an aid to help you surpass it. Some people take them so very early in their training, how do they know if they even help? Protein can be consumed now though. It will never hurt.

Actually bb1fit, you're not disagreeing with me, you're disagreeing with the scientific method, but hey, I'm just suggesting research. Take care.
