let me describe similar situation...

a couple years ago I read a study publiished in WSJ....people with low back pain, some with severe, were asked to workout their back even through the pain....after the end of the study (around 8 weeks) most of the people experienced decrease in back pain, some ceased having it at all....vs another group who went to physical therapy for massage and some other rehabilitation things....and the weight lifting group did much better....so sometimes it pays to push through the pain but obviously you have to be a good judge jsut how much is too much and so forth....so not to go overboard....important thing is to give yourself lots of rest...I'd say 6-7 days between workouts if you do decide to go fairly heavy...

tenditis is not good but how severe was it? People experience tendinitis from overtraining or overexertion but with rest they get better and recover...slowly decrease the reps and increase weight....go through full range of motion....no 1/2 reps....go lower than parallel if you have to in order to be sure...

Makre sure to warm up thoroughly and it's a good idea to ice your knee for 15-20 minutes after your workouts...

I agree with menace......I went threw physical therapy with a strained bicep tendon......all they did was utrasound therapy an dmake me stretch......so I stoped going and went to the gym and in abotu 4 weeks rehabed it by myself. By doing extremly light excercisesusually on a cable machine.

as for the tendonitits......for most people it stays with them most of their lves. I have a slight case......but its nothing like it used to......it only hurts now if i'm stuck in a confind space for a long period of time......back seat of car, movie theater etc.

Just listen to your knees, if they aren't "feeling" like doing squats that day........do somthing else.

warm up properly.......and if yoru feeling strong go a lil heavier......just don't do big jumps. Don't squat 200 8 times......then jump to 315.......I like adding 20 to 30 lbs a set

Is your knee injured, or hurt. Theres a big difference. While wrestling and lifting, I'm almost always hurt, but injuries need to be take care of. However, the best thing I heard in the above posts was menace "no 1/2 lifts".

Andrew I used to have a tendinitis type injury in my left elbow/forearm...could not get rid of it for months...even with my rare workout habits...so I finally just took 2 weeks off and applied bengay to the area and massaged it lightly and then wrapping it fairly tightly with a reusable bandage...when I came back pain was gone.....Andrew where do you have your tendinitis and how did you hurt it? Have you tried taking a significant time off from gym/sports ? (2-4 weeks..?)
