Is there something out there that safely boosts the natural production of testosterone without the use of steroids or hormones? I've read that working out heavily can lower testosterone levels (hoping it is at least going to the muscle) :-) Jason

BTW-I'm not looking to bump up the testosterone to build massive muscle, just to maintain healthy levels.

There sure is. It's called ZMA and most supplement companies sell it. It's basically just a blend of zinc and magnesium that you take at night. Check out a supplement site like netrition.com or dpsnutrition.com and look up ZMA.

I don't remember where I read it. I've been trying to read quite a bit on exersize and nutrition but find there is a bunch of shall I say baloney around. That's why I like this website to through stuff out and get some real imput. So much of the info out is put up by someone selling something. Anyway maybe my nutrition i.e. is lacking in the nutrient part. Jason

Lifting heavy will increase your testosterone. Here's proof: You don't see powerlifters being dainty and wearing dresses because their T levels dropped.

Contrary to the article you read, heavy squats will boost your levels quite a bit. As for supplements, try stacking ZMA and tribulus together. They worked very well when I went off a cycle of andro. Just make sure you're not taking ZMA around the same time you consume something high in calcium (milk, cheese, etc). The magnesium and calcium compete for absorption and you won't feel the full effects of the ZMA.

It's overly simplistic to say lifting increases your testosterone levels as there are so many other factors involved. Immediately after lifting, test levels can rise notably, but lifting too much without resting (overtraining) can actually lower test levels in the long run as can other things (e.g., chronic stress, aging, use of anabolic steroids, etc.).
