Do you guys think that the chest spring is a good mass builder for your chest? I have one and would love to put it to use if it will build mass.

Are you mattawesome's sister or wife? (sorry, couldn't resist)
Isn't the chest spring a bodybuilding relic from the 60's or 70's? -------------- It\'s easier to go down a hill than up it but the view is much better at the top. -Henry Ward Beecher |

The chest spring(chest expander) was quite a popular peice of equipment. In the UK and europe they called it strand pulling. Some of the great old time strong men used them in their feats of strength. They might not build allot of mass but you can get a good workout with one.-------------- I am that which must be feared, worshipped and adored. I bought this thing at Wal-Mart. It's name that was on the package was The Chest Spring. It's a large spring(About 1 inch or a little more in diameter) with handles on each end. It can adjust to easy or hard by letting the handles in or out. The way to use it is by bending it into. Hold your hand about chest high and close the spring handles in to meet eachother. Now the thing works your chest and shoulders pretty good. I guess about like you would do by pushing your hands together to flex your chest.-------------- If you can't hang with the big dogs, go your little ass home. |

If it is work, it is work, your body doesn't know the difference between springs, weights or phone books.-------------- It\'s easier to go down a hill than up it but the view is much better at the top. -Henry Ward Beecher |

It seems like I have started something. If you know what this thing is, and you know if it can help with mass let me know. I figured if it was sold at Wal-mart everyone would know what it was.-------------- If you can't hang with the big dogs, go your little ass home. |

Just as assimmer said, "If it is work, it is work, your body doesn't know the difference between springs, weights or phone books."

Oh.......I have one of those. Its kind of a big H shape. You can do both pull and push. Pull at the bottom and then turn it around to push. I dont really think it is a mass builder though.

You must have not seen one of these then. It's not in a H shape. Its a BIG spring with handles on each end. -------------- If you can't hang with the big dogs, go your little ass home. |

I think this is what he is describing
http://www.net2fitness.com/chest_toners.htm and to answer your question...as long as there is progressive resistance, it might work. It would be like doing fly's but with the resistance at the top. Probably only increase your cleavage...which might be a good thing for you |

I think I saw it in Wal Mart. You might try the exercises which you push the handles together, on this web site: (you will not be able to do any of the exercises that use the ropes)

Let me know if you can't get to the site. I have all of the exercises on my hard drive, and when I went to the site, there was a message at the top: "an error occured processing the directive", so it may have just gone to me hard drive.
