I finally got a spiffy new body fat monitoring scale. In addition to me bing 4 pounds heavier than the last time I weighed (although it was right after a big lunch) I am 30% body fat :(
I guess I am in denial because I am 5'8" so I think that a size 10 isn't that big. Doesn't this mean that I am obese? Even with 39-27-40 measurements?
I'm not sure what to do now. I ate an omelette (1 egg and 3 egg whites) for breakfast, but for the rest of the day I am uncertain. How long will it take me to lose the body fat in a healthy way? How much cardio should I actually be doing with my freetrainers weight lifting plan?

The body fat scales work on bioelectrical impedence, which depends on many different factors - hydration, lean mass, too many variables can effect the reading, so don't fret.
Don't get scared and cut out all of your carbs - eat healthy carbs - you need them for many, many reasons. read grocery list for a bodybuilder or what should I eat in the FAQ section.
Eat 5-6 small meals a day.
Do cardio every other day, until your fitness level increases. Alternate with steady state cardio and HIIT.
Don't let a scale distort your healthy body image.
Work out for health reasons, please don't obsess, it is no fun.

I once read somewhere that we women can fluctuate between 3 and 8 lbs DAILY depending on our menstrual cycle, bloating and water retention.......... (another reason why we should throw out that darn scale!! )
Don't let the scale decide your mood but use the mirror and your clothers as a judge. :)

thanks both of you.
I went to the doctor and was at normal weight yesterday...and in the middle of the day too. Go figure.

I can vouch for what Philia said- I'm one of those people whose weight goes up and down from day to day. I'm a bit obsessive with the scale- weigh myself several times a day. But I don't freak out if I'm up a few pounds- I do it more for curiousity. Anyways- I have found that I easily fluctuate 4 pounds either way from my "actual" weight.

I totally agree - I got on and I was FOUR pounds heavier from one day to the next and nearly collasped, I thought it was just the scale but I have been consistent since - I didn't know there could be THAT much difference!
