I've been getting great results on my arm workouts....biceps are popping up, but they lack real thickness.
any exercises that might help me fill them out more? thanks |

I think thickness comes from your overall arm size, not necessarily from your bis alone. Work your triceps more as they make up roughly 2/3 of your overall arm size. This will give you the illusion that your bis are that much "thicker."
If you are after a "fuller" peak on your bis, hammer curls (standing, sitting and preacher) and reverse curls should do the trick. -------------- **_Robert_** Pain is temporary; glory is forever! |

i work my tri's a good bit, and they are looking pretty good, definately adding size to my arm...
just to clear it up, i am talking about when viewing my arms from straight on, not profile.... but, i'll up the ante on my hammer curls.... can you explain more about reverse curls, is that just having my palms facing down when i curl? thanks |

You tri's take up that much space. Can't tell by looking at my arms. Bi's are okay, though. -------------- It's not what we eat or drink occasionally, but what we consume on a daily basis that determines our ongoing level o health. formerfatguy.com Not sure of author |

ivandead, a great method that worked for thickening up my bi's are cheat curls with heavy weight. They don't add much peak but as far as beefing up the frontal appearance of the arm, they work very well. In Arnold's new encyclopedia of modern bodybuilding he speaks very highly of cheat curls when u seek to add overall mass to your arms. He defines them as standing barbell curls(I like to use a straight bar) with heavy weight(or even moderate weight when your arms are fairly fatigued from prior bicep lifts)and swaying just enough to keep the weight moving...Hope this can help, it has for me so far.-------------- "Without Pains, there come no Gains" -Benjamin Franklin |

Here's a suggestion...keep working them out. It takes patience and time, sometimes years. Hit'em from different angles with both bi's and tri's.-------------- May the lift be with you. |

Try supersetting these with regular or cheat curls and you'll be sore for days. -------------- **_Robert_** Pain is temporary; glory is forever! |

The weights will drop. You'll notice the same for preacher curls as these really isolate the biceps and does not allow you to cheat.-------------- **_Robert_** Pain is temporary; glory is forever! |

Reverse curls with heavy weight is hard for me as well...to much strain and the bar slips.-------------- May the lift be with you. |

I just go lighter, and try to do my reverse curls after all my other bi stuff...since the arms are pretty fatigued already...you get a good burn. Plus, the forearms-which are also involved quite a bit in reverse curls can handle really high reps so I drop down the weight a bit and pound out more reps..usually around 15-18, I have also found that reverse curls help the vascularity of the forearm out alot. Im just a rookie myself tho, these are just the things that I have noticed. Well thats my $.02...hope it helps! -------------- "Without Pains, there come no Gains" -Benjamin Franklin |

Quoting from chimchim: so how do you help that? strain, slipping... just go lighter? ============= Good advice from the others...just go lighter. I use weight gloves so I don't really experience slippage. You can also perform reverse "cheat" curls if you want to go a little heavier. The key is to lower the weights slowly. -------------- **_Robert_** Pain is temporary; glory is forever! |

Yup...go lighter. Reverse grip curls are not a major exercise but definitely helpful...no need to go heavy.

I don't think its a good idea to compare weights cos all different body types and sises and stuff could be setting yourself up for major dissapointment. Also you are going to get people adding to what they can actually do which may disscourage others. any way 30kg for me on a tricep ext barr this allows a hammer curl movement using a barr.
