I just can't get the hang of this diet thing! It's driving me nuts. How do you actually eat 3700 calories per day? I tallied up what I ate yesterday and it came out to less that 1500. Of course I had a bad day, I forgot to eat breakfast or lunch, so my only meal was supper. I'm doing somewhat better today I'm almost up to 2000 calories and I haven't eaten supper yet or had my after workout shake. I'm really trying to eat six times a day, but eating once or twice is a lifetime habit.
So, questions are, if I fall short one day, should I eat more to make up for it the next day? Am I still supposed to eat so many calories on rest days? Maybe I should start eating junk food, I never really have, but they are loaded with calories.
Any advice here?

You want your diet to even out, even on off days. And don't try to eat all your daily calories in one setting or you won't the end result. :) The only way to do it is get into the habit of multiple meals. It takes a little while to do it but people at work quit commenting about my 3 or 4 cans of tuna every day a long time ago.

Well, almost made it to 2500 calories! WoooHoo! Thats a lot for me, my body is probably going into shock. Breakfast is the toughest. I get up at 4am and don't have much time to fix anything so am tryig to come up with things that I can prepare ahead of time and just nuke or something.

try working your way up yooper.. then your body will get used to consuming certain amounts. a big jump will typically lead to fat gain. maybe increase cals 500 a week.

Don't eat junk food! I know it's an easy way to increase your calories but junk food is full of sugar and saturated fats. Just keep at it with healthy foods.

Well, I'm trying to put the caloric goals out of my head, and just trying to get into the habit of eating regular meals. 4 - 6 is the goal, but I still get excited if I manage three! The protein shakes help I guess, but doesn't really seem like a meal. I'm sure that going from just 1500 calories per day to 2000, or 2500 will be a good start. I sure feel stuffed all the time. Fortunately I really like healthy food, and have never been a junk food junkie. Lunch today was a cup of cottage cheese, fresh spinach, and half a can of salmon....yum!
