...about what I see in my gym. I know we've done this type of post before but I have to vent about my gym. Please feel free to post your complaints as well:
I can not stand the wanna-be white-boy gangsters that come into the gym with their hat on sideways, cursing up a storm, disrespecting others by getting in their "workout space", sitting on a bench they are not using while talking on their cell phone, lifting up their shirt to look at their abs(the only body part other than arms they work on) and thinking they are huge.
I know, I know...I sound like a whiner and I should just stick to my workout and not worry about the other idiots around me, but damnit, sometime they just ppiss me off. It could be worse.....my last gym was a 24 hour that was in the heart of Brentwood(aka the Hood) with people getting into fights and one person was murdered out behind the locker room.

Shut up and grow.

Thank God I don't have to got through another year of the Yankees winning the World Series.

I on the other had absolutely adore the group of 14-16 yr old punks in the wife beater, baggy jeans, and work boots and hats on sideways. I mean they are to die for! I love it so much when after they are done with their 14th set of bench, that looked more like tug-o-war, they get up run to the miriorr and look at their abbs.
I hope you all know I was kidding? I had a run in with this group of them last week at the Y i lift at. They spent almost a hour doing once set of bench after another, where the spotter inbetween screaming at the presser, lifted as much of the bar as the one doing it. ANyway they get up walk over to the DB rack, cause of course no bench day is complete without 100 sets of curls. They literaly took all the DB off the rack from 15-30, and left them on the floor. This with nice big signs saying your membership can and will revoked if you leave the weights and bars laying around. SO they all are standing there and I go over to do DB rows. I needed the 100db first of course they are standing in the way chatting with two 14 yr old girls. I say excuse me. They look at me. I shrug my shoulders bend over and start rowing. I almost hit 3 of the 6 standing there. I get done with that set and turn to them, I say" while you are all standing there making this look like a JR high lunch room PICK UP YOUR WEIGHTS!" They jumped and did so. I also went to Rob one of the employees there that spotts me and told him. I hate that crowd!

my pet peave's are the rich stay at home wives. THey come to spin class and just chit chat the whole time. this is not social hour. I feel like the class just isn't what it could be. and I love to spin!!! but they come in, most often late, with their matching lipo/boob-job/tummy tucks's, made up like their going out, with not a hair out of place. I am working so hard to lose weight and these ladies just have no consideration for the rest of us that aren't 115lbs blond hair blue eyed and tall. the group instructor just ignores them, but they get to the point where they are so loud I can't hear the instructor. its so frustrating. If you ladies want to chit chat, go to lunch, call each other, meet in the locker room, i Don't care just don't waste my time!!!!

i cant stand those Message deleted by moderator due to unsuitable content for this board that curl in my squat rack. What the hell is with that???! We have curl bars! Unless your curling close to 300 for reps, NO! You can NOT work in with me. Leave the squat rack for squatting.
And the next person that comes up to me while im benching to tell me that my powerlifters arch is bad form, I am going to drag their sorry as onto the bench and make them work in with me. This is knowing that few of the people in my gym bench as much as me, even at double my size. If you can't do it, don't tell me how. I think I have a some idea what I'm doing.

Yes I realize my shins are bleeding. And its called a deadlift. Any other questions???

If you smoke or don’t wear your seatbelt, please don’t tell me the deadlift is dangerous.

About the being gay part :)

I am gay and I have to admit... those nasty gay guys are really annoying.... u r watched in the locker room, the steamroom, the shower, the sauna etc...

I sometimes feel so uncomfortable because they are stalking me so badly....

Again... I am gay by myself and I just can say: Guys.... go and je** off before you hit the gym... it's a place to work out and not to pick up guys....

wrestler LOL....I had similar complaints...

I had people approach me and tell me not to hurt myself deadlifting cuz it's dangerous...esp with that much weight....then I had people critique my bench form....ofcourse they have been working out a whole week before telling me that....my bench obviously looks weird who dangle their feet in the air or put them up on these handles at the end of the bench....With my arch the flat bench becomes much easier than even decline bench press....none of my friends can even imitate...u can put two arms in there....lol....but I am jacking up more weight as they are still doing their 135 for 10 sets....so...guess that settles that...
2005/11/26, 06:52 PM
I also think that any person leering in the gym at men or women has no business doing there...Wanna btchslap them upside the head for that....bunch of losers...I went to this gym a couple times when I won free membership...I guess it had a large gay gym population...I had no probs with most of the people there who came to work out...but some would stare at u as u're squatting or deadlifting or whatever else....made me feel very uncomfortable...as well as other things I heard go on in the lockerroom and showers....or in the steamroom when me and my friend walked in on two guys making out...nothing wrong with that but they should do it at home....gym is for working out...

Also been to other gyms with shitty equipment where everyone comes to stare at each other and pretend like they are working out while talking....guys staring at women doing 2.5lb curls....while dressed in the skimpiest of clothing...lets just say I haven't gone to that gym twice...

I am very business when I go to the gym...don't know why this is not the case for others...

I work out at home. You gym rats are crazy and scarey.

the only thing I think that gets me more than people doing stupid and ineffective things at the gym, is when a trainer does stupid and ineffective things with a client. When I was working in the gym this summer, I swear, one of the trainers would take whoever he could get, regardless of age, weight, sex, goals, or experiance levels, and have them do their entire workout on a bosu ball.
The worst part is, guys like this can continue to get clients despite the fact that they never accomplish ANYTHING with their clients, except making them look like fools.

All my walls are mirrored Wrestler. Think of the motivation I get when I see myself in that lil tutu.

Mutt, does this mean you're the FT resident hairy ass expert? I always suspected that.

I'm also honored and flattered to be the object of so much fantasy!!!!

Okay, if we're allowed to moan...

I was in the hotel gym on holiday, walking on the treadmill (can't run due to hypermobile joints). My NBF was walking on the other treadmill, as he's just had an op, and wasn't ready to run yet. For nearly the whole 20 minutes a woman glared at us, as if we weren't worthy of being on the treadmills, and as soon as we came off, she went on one, and started running at full speed, as if to make a point. The only point she made is that she deserves an injury if she's not going to do a warm up. Hmmph!

it's funny....when some people need to feel superior in the dumbest of things....most gyms have 30 min limit on cardio machines....so what's the big deal? you can use that machine for 30 min at any pace you like....

This is me venting...
Message deleted by moderator due to unsuitable content for this board **** in the squat cage Message deleted by moderator due to unsuitable content for this board !!!@@@ preacher curling Message deleted by moderator due to unsuitable content for this board DUMBBELLS!!!!
WHY!? If your curling in the squat rack, I usually only get upset if I want to squat and you are taking up the only available cage. BUT DUMBBELLS? Are you serious?
These two guys roll an incline bench in the squat cage, and then start doing standing preacher curls on the incline bench. IN THE CAGE. wtf? Thank god I already had the only other available squat rack, or weights would have been thrown.
Needless to say, I hit a big low box squat PR that day.

Ok, so this guy is in the squat rack next to me. Im working out alone, and theres 225 on the bar. I am doing 3/4 squats, ATG style. Past parallel. This guy loads up 185 without warming up. He then proceeds to grab the bar in a clean position. I think, wow, someone that knows what a front squat is... Except that he's squatting 4 inches deep. Now I wouldn't usually give this a second look, except that he does a few sets, and comes up to me, and goes, "maybe you should try dropping the weight and doing front squats too. It isn't always about how much weight you can lift you know..."
I'm practically speechless. I couldn't believe it. I look at him, and after gasping a few times, I simply reply "maybe you should try getting your ass a bit lower before you start telling me your doing any type of squat."
Menace, if anyone needed a b----slap...
whew...

good stuff wrestler. one time i was squatting on the smith machine, and some guy who i had never seen squat before tells me i am going too low, when in my mind i am not going low enough. he is one of those guys who does more walking around than he does lifting. he needed to be b slapped.

too low? unless you were sitting on the ground like a box squat, then i dont see how that is possible... And this is coming from a powerlifter.
My partner can do a wide stance ATG squat. I can't stand it, he just sits back, down, and practically does a split. He can go wide stance ATG with 185 and it upsets me b/k I can barely go ATG with 185 with a regular stance.
