Hey guys, I'm 5'7", 215. I have the spare tire going around the waist, but my upper body is starting to look good. Whats the best way to get rid of the gut? I've been looking at the other posts, I see that weight training seems to be more of a focus than cardio, but isn't cardio the only way to lose the gut? I also want to keep my muscle and the mass, what should I be eating to go with the cardio? Thanks

Miss conception is, I do crunches and sit ups, the fat just melts away, and magiclly a six pack reveals it self.
Thats what you are lead to believe on infomercials, and tv and junk. Fact is , you do abb excercises with a gut, and build muscle under fat, the fat will just poke out more. THing is to loose weight you ned a caloric deficict. That is burn 3500 calories in a day and only eat 3000..........cardio burns more calories in the long run because your heart rate is up.
Theres a few on this sight, who just waan get big and strong and don't have to worry about body fat. I'm one of the many who have to balance what I eat with what I do.
Like pritchard said, abbs are built with diet.

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm not looking to be this big bulk of muscle, I just want to look good while being fit and strong. Right now I think I only have about 1000-1200 calories per day and burn about 400 just on the treadmill alone (about 15 minutes jog, 30 minutes fast paced walk). I think I'll start doing cardio for two days, and then weight train the other two days with a 5 minute warmup before. Will this get me looking and feeling better? Anyone is welcome to comment. :)
