Ok then I am totaly lost
help me out bro! I am doing ME upper tomorrow, what do I do? -------------- As a quarter squatter was dominating the rack, I heard a conversation between an old powerlifter (easily in his 60\\'s) and what I would guess was his grandson (15-yrs old): Kid: \\"So, why does he stop so short on his squats? I am going to assume that you are doing plain old bench as your ME movement. You hit 235 last week, so this week my goal would be 240. I know you want to try 245, but don't. Try 240 first.
45xwhatever 95x5 120x3 160x3 180x3 200x1 220x1 240x1 Now you can try 245 if things went well. If you hit 245 call it a day, if not drop down to 220 and 1 or 2 more singles. Now for supplemental stuff. You are doing close grip on your de/re day, so we won't do them here. Dips or DB press 4-5 sets Honestly, I don't get a good carry over from dips or any decline like pressing movement. I would use the DB presses. JM-Press is an option, but I don't like how it makes my elbows feel. Rack-lockouts or DB floor press are other options. ONE back movement. Shoulders - Shrugs, Face-Pulls...back of the shoulders DONE...maybe some pushdowns or extensions if you want. |

I think the biggest thing that you need to remember is you are NOT training body parts. You ARE training movement patterns.

Good work! I think that you can get away with one more week of flat bench, but then you are going to need to rotate movements.

That is my plan. I am on a 3 week cycle. If you haven't done standing DB overhead pressing in a while, I would strongly suggest it... Another thing I did last night was 3 sets of dips all for DRUMROLL---------10 reps! AND my ROM was deep as well! here is the deal. I am sick and I am NOT lifting to night my ME lower night. I will be able to lift sat and sun so how would you go about schedulein that? yeah...if you are sick. There is nothing wrong with hitting some heavy singles on DE day once in a while especially if missed your ME day. Don't sweat it. You missed one day who cares.

DId a ME lower tuesday that was killer. Also did ME upper last night. GOt a new pr on bench 245 and it went up easy!!!!! I also got a new shrug number. About a year or more I was just hitting 605-635 in shrugs. Yesterday I got 605x5 and 635x3!!!!! Nice job Scott. I agree with Pemdas - if it went up easy go for more. If it was easy how much help would you really need from the old guys? Keep pushing yourself. That is how you will break through the barriers.

I think I could have got 255-265. I wish now I had gone for it. Here is another thing. Ever since my surgery i have been dealing with an issue related to training. That is, the latic acid pain. I don't really get lactic acid pain unless I switch up my assistance work and even then I only get for the first week. I never get it from ME or DE stuff. However, you might want to consider some feeder workouts to help you recover. Something high rep like 20-25 high. For few sets. It can be really quick like 10-15 mins. You have bands now, so you could even use that and do it at home.

I dont think its weird, just an excuse not to push more. 265 is not that much weight for you and a spotter. How much help do you think you would need? You said you got 245 easy - that leaves 20lbs max for the guy to handle.

Not sure The week before I needed a bit of help with 240 so it sort of surprised me to nail 245 like i did

Maybe my form sucks on GMs, but it seems strange to me that you can GM 275 and you squat around 340 and DL around 400. I am only basing this on my numbers, 350 Squat and 425 DL, so I may be way off base. How far do you go down?

Just above 90 degrees, meaning I am just above parallel. I was just looking over your log - your numbers confuse the hell out of me. For example, when you start with DL you have been right around 405x1. Your last workout you did DL and hit 365x2 AFTER 11 sets of GM with a PR and AFTER 7 sets of box squats with a PR. Then on the sixth set of DL you hit 365x2. Thats only 40lbs off where you have been.
